Pieces of American cinema history have been sold at an auction in Dallas, Texas where bidders had the chance to get their hands on some of the most iconic movie props and costumes.
The items went under the hammer on Saturday, December 17, are part of American history, from the golden age of Hollywood cinema right through to some modern day blockbusters.
More than 1,700 online bidders tried to get their hands on the props at the Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction, which raised a staggering $7.9million.
From the Wicked Witch of the West's hourglass from 1939's Wizard of Oz to Captain America's shield in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, classic props from every era of Hollywood cinema were up for grabs.
Joe Maddalena, the executive vice president of the auction house Heritage Auctions, said: 'From the moment this auction was announced last month, there was extraordinary interest in and affection for every single thing being offered.
'I knew it would do well, but from first lot to last, it exceeded every expectation.
'What's most rewarding is that these pieces are going to new caretakers as dazzled as I am by the memories and magic they carry with them.'
Some of the props up for auction included: a 'test' dress worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (1939), which sold for $125,000; Dick Van Dyke's candy-coloured jacket from Mary Poppins (1964), which fetched $200,000; a dress worn by Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music (1965), bought for $100,000; and a modified 1961 Beetle from Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) sold for $212,500.
Also sold was the first Y-wing ever built for the Star Wars franchise, which raised $175,000; Freddy Krueger's razor glove used by Robert Englund in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1984), which fetched $112,500; William Wallace's Claymore sword and sheath from Braveheart (1995), sold for $275,000; and a Captain America shield used by Chris Evans in Avengers: Endgame (2019) sold for $162,500.
$495,000: The Wicked Witch of the West's hourglass from The Wizard of Oz was one of the highest selling items. It is from one of the most iconic movies of all time when the golden age of Hollywood was peaking. In the film the Wicked Witch, who was played by Margaret Hamilton, flipped the hour glass to signify when she would return to kill Dorothy. In the movie, she launched the hourglass and it exploded on the floor as Dorothy and her friends were trying to escape. Soon after, Dorothy threw water over the witch to melt the witch.
$447,000: Charlton Heston's signature robe from the 1956 film The Ten Commandments was one of the oldest items that went on sale. Heston wore the robe in the movie during the iconic scene where he raises his arms and staff to part the Red Sea. Artist and designer Arnold Friberg was gifted the robe after filming for his work on the movie, owing it until he died in 2010. The film was nominated for best picture at the Oscars in 1957.

$137,500: A golden ticket from 1971's Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory also sold at the auction. Protagonist Charlie wins the ticket in a Wonka Bar to allow him into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. The film is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1964 book. The film fetched $475million at the box office.
$300,000: The white ivory cotton bikini worn by Ursula Andress' Honey Ryder in 1962's Dr. No is an iconic piece of James Bond memorabilia. The Swiss-German actress starred alongside Sean Connery in what is widely considered by many as one of the best Bond films of all time.
