Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's coachbuilding unit bespoke, has designed a distinctive keycase to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bentley brand. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it comes with a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre imagery.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a company that takes its aesthetics seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting and the use of leather from products of cattle and sustainable-managed forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever built. The rear tonneau of the Continental GT, for example it was the largest piece ever of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Design

A customized heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system has been designed to give each passenger the perfect climate control setting.

In addition to a suite of stylishly executed styling changes, the Mulsanne is powered by twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine that can produce 560bhp and 479lbft of torque. This incredible power is complemented by a new suspension design that gives Bentley's signature hushed ride.

Bentley has launched a new specification for cars made after 2019 to commemorate its centennial. It is known as the Centenary Specification. This includes cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. A custom Bentley key case is included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key features two buttons that open the trunk, and another that starts the vehicle. The key also has a button to turn on the parking brake. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors when parking in a tight space. This feature makes it easier to get into and out of your vehicle.

Each key takes about two days to make. It is hand cut, shaped, sewn, sealed and polished to give the highest-quality finish. It is light and compact and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design resembles the Volkswagen Phaeton's large car key, but it feels more heavy and premium.

It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key which can help prevent theft of keys without keypads. The device is placed inside the remote-control key fob, and disables it after a few minutes of inactivity. This prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the vehicle.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own car. The customers sit at a set of images called "mood stations" and choose a selection of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that are inspiring to them. As each selection is made, a pattern is created that reveals the models and colors of the customized bentley car key.

The guests are given the keys in a case designed by hand that contains the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. The keys can be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the door's opening. They are adorned with the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley claims it takes about 500 man-hours to craft and put together the typical Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the primary factor to this laborious task. Instead of employing a machine for spacers to the perfectly matched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers have to park their cars manually, rather than relying on sensors built-in to guide them into parallel and perpendicular spots.
